Vietnam

Vietnam is a great place to visit. From the scary streets of Hanoi to the beautiful scenes in Halong Bay, Vietnam has a lot to offer the visitor.

The two hats shown here are the most popular...the conical "farmers" hat and the "army" helmet made famous in the struggles for independence and unification. Photo taken in October 2001. Streets of Hanoi A continual theme of two-wheelers in Hanoi, Vietnam. Photo taken in October 2001. Streets of Hanoi Sure, there are 4-wheelers here, but they cannot compete with the speeds of the two-wheelers in the busy streets of Hanoi, Vietnam. Photo taken in October 2001. Lake of the Restored Sword The "Lake of the Restored Sword" also known as Hoan Kiem Lake in Hanoi, Vietnam. An Arthurian-type legend is associated with this lake. It's about a sword provided by a golden turtle from the lake and which was used in battles against Chinese invaders. The sword was later returned to the lake... Photo taken in October 2001.
Sunbeam Bridge A part view of the Sunbeam Bridge in Hanoi's "Lake of the Restored Sword" (Hoan Kiem Lake), Vietnam. The bridge links to the Ngoc Son Temple in the lake. Photo taken in October 2001. Streets of Hanoi A scene showing the large amount of two-wheel transportation used in Hanoi, Vietnam. Crossing the streets can seem scary at first as there don't seem to be any rules, but walking confidently and at a constant pace allows traffic to flow around you. It's easy! Unfortunately, the habits I've picked up won't do me any favours on the streets of London! Photo taken in October 2001.
