A traveller with a camera!
Sadhus are Hindu holy men with specific spiritual goals. Pictured is one sadhu, just after sunrise, on the sandy eastern side of the River Ganges in the holy city of Varanasi. This area is a relatively open space within the city centre, in contrast to the western side with its many temples and ghats.

I was travelling overland between Bhutan and Nepal several years ago, and stopped at Darjeeling for a couple of days. Whilst there, I came across this scene of clouds rolling over an old spooky building, mountains in the background. A wonderful town in the Lesser Himalayas, with a large Buddhist presence, famous for its tea plantations and the narrow-gauge Darjeeling Himalayan Railway.
At the Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, India, 2019. Around 240 million people visited this event. An eclectic mix of the old, the new, the religious, and the curious. Most notable here were the thousands of sadhus (or holy men). Here is one I pictured, making his way through the confines of the festival. He reminds me of William Blake’s depiction of god in his “The Ancient of Days”. It’s unusual, I know, comparing a Hindu holy man with the Blake’s Judeo-Christian god. The visual comparison is striking; both are the Ancient of Days.

Having explored the blue sectors of Jodhpur in India, we had a desire to explore other areas of the city, so took a walk from our hotel near Ghanta Ghar hoping to catch some interesting street scenes. This is a photo of a masked streetcleaner who was happy to have his photo taken.
Away from the blue districts of the Indian city of Jodhpur, the white Jaswant Thada memorial building stands in stark contrast to the imposing sunrise-infused red Mehrangarh Fort.
